The bourbon barrel-aged white stout’s official release is February 8

 

Holland, Mich. — New Holland Brewing Company is excited to announce the launch of Dragon’s Milk White: a bourbon barrel-aged white stout. The first Dragon’s Milk product to be enjoyed in cans, Dragon’s Milk White offers a fresh approach that builds on a strong bourbon barrel-aging tradition.

“The white stout is an entirely new Dragon’s Milk experience, pulling many of the same awesome flavor notes that our fans have come to love in our original bourbon barrel-aged stout, but presenting them in a way that is completely unique,” said Dominic Bergquist, brand manager for Dragon’s Milk. “It’s not simply a visual play. The hazy golden color is really just the first cue that this beer is going to be unique, with the aromas and flavors that follow making it something we feel is truly special to behold.”

At six percent ABV, Dragon’s Milk White brings a much lighter—but no less full-flavored—drinking experience to the table. It promises to appeal to traditional stout drinkers as well as those who simply are looking for a well crafted, full-flavored and accessible drinking experience.

Available in cans, Dragon’s Milk White can be enjoyed in more places and on more occasions, giving fans even more opportunity to “share a legend.”

New Seasonal Brands And Expansion Of Dragon’s Milk Stout

HOLLAND, Mich. — New Holland Brewing Company, West Michigan-based craft brewer and distiller, is kicking off 2019 with the announcement of two new seasonal brands and an addition to the Dragon’s Milk™  brand family.

“We are excited about our new line-up that focuses on innovative recipes that we feel are really going to strike a chord with our customers,” said Joel Petersen, Vice President of Beer Sales. “We know consumers continue to look for brands that push the envelope for what beer can be, and our production team has responded with some outstanding recipes this year – much like our Tangerine Space Machine we introduced last year, which became our #1 draft brand in Michigan in 2018.”

Dragon’s Milk fans can look forward to a delicious new Dragon’s Milk brand extension in a 12oz can to be released February 2019. The new addition to the Dragon’s Milk family builds upon the stout’s bold new branding and #ShareALegend campaign, which can be seen at DragonsMilk.com.

2019 New Holland Brewing Company Beer Lineup

“This announcement will be an exciting one for our team as we work to expand the Dragon’s Milk brand and initiative with a delicious new beer, inspired by the best-selling barrel aged stout. This new variety will be the first 2019 addition to our core lineup and will be available nationwide,” said Brett Vanderkamp, President and Co-Founder of New Holland. “New Holland will continue to release four Dragon’s Milk Reserve brands throughout the year.”

The first new seasonal offering is a Kombucha IPA, releasing in late February of 2019. This IPA combines the refreshing fruit forward flavor of a citra hopped IPA with the tartness and spiciness of a lemon and ginger Kombucha. As soon as the can is opened, consumers will be met with flavors of fresh ginger, tart acidity, tropical fruits and citrus.

The second new offering is “Cerveza con Limón,” a Mexican-style lager. The ideal summer beverage, releasing in July 2019, is light, crisp and refreshing featuring natural lemon and lime peel.

“To our knowledge, our Kombucha IPA is the first IPA of its kind and we are incredibly optimistic about the response it will get from our consumers,” said Petersen. “Both of our new seasonal offerings will be available in the Mid-West and other select states. In addition to these exciting new varieties, we are also shifting our popular Passion Blaster Rose Ale from a seasonal brew to a year-round offering due to its popularity in 2018.”

The 2019 sour lineup will continue with 4 brands, releasing individually throughout the year. Three of which will showcase fruits such as Concord Grape, Mango, and Plum.  As always, New Holland expects to maintain some flexibility in its lineup throughout the year, and encourages consumers to follow along for additional announcements on Facebook and Instagram.

Holland, Mich. — It may not feel like it yet, but the crisp breezes, changing leaves and chilly nighttime bonfires of autumn are fast approaching. So signals the return of Ichabod, New Holland Brewing Company’s classic pumpkin beer, which is slated to appear in bars and restaurants starting August 13.

The beer will be tapped in New Holland’s Grand Rapids and Holland pubs startingSeptember 4.

IchabodIchabod is a pumpkin ale brewed with real pumpkin, malted barley, cinnamon and nutmeg. This marks the beer’s twenty-first year in New Holland’s lineup. In that time, it has become a heavily anticipated seasonal release.

“Ichabod was one of the first beers we ever brewed,” said Brett VanderKamp, Founder at New Holland Brewing Company. “It’s been an absolute favorite for us at the brewery, and our fans in Michigan and beyond, ever since.”

For the first time this year, consumers will be able to enjoy Ichabod in six packs of cans.

“We’re excited to have Ichabod come out in a can. This will be a perfect beer for sipping around the campfire and for tailgating,” Joel Petersen, Vice President of Sales at New Holland Brewing Company said.

Ichabod will be a limited release this year, making it available for a shorter period of time within the season. Petersen said this decision aims to make room for other fall flavors to shine and to allow Ichabod to be in the market during the peak of Fall.

“Fall, with all of its grandeur, offers many flavor profiles, including pumpkin, and we think people can and should explore,” Petersen said.

Many locations pouring New Holland’s Ichabod will also serve Filthy Pumpkin, a 60/40 combination of Ichabod and Dragon’s Milk that Petersen says is a mug club member favorite at New Holland’s pubs.

“When Ichabod comes out, it kicks off the anticipation for the amazing fall season we have here in the midwest,” Petersen said. “This is a beer that pairs well with sweatshirts, sunny days, cool nights and the smell of smoke from the fire pit.”

new hollandHolland, Mich. — New Holland Brewing will release a new addition to theirDragon’s Milk Reserve program in April. This time, brewers tried a classic flavor pairing on Dragon’s Milk’s bourbon barrel stout canvas: Cherry Chocolate.

The beer will be available in New Holland pubs starting April 13. It will hit store shelves and across their bar and restaurant distribution footprint on April 16. Consumers can look forward to a rich stout that balances creamy chocolate flavors with a delightful cherry tartness.

“Chocolate is a flavor that is already present in Dragon’s Milk when it comes out of the barrel, but we’re able to play that up and really bring out the wonderful chocolate smoothness. Obviously, that just couples extremely well with the cherry flavor,” said New Holland Vice President of Sales Joel Petersen. “That combination plays nicely against the backbone of this beer.”

For most breweries, a bourbon barrel stout clocking in at 11 percent ABV is a limited release. New Holland Brewing works hard to make Dragon’s Milk available year round. The Reserve series is a chance for brewers and consumers alike to see the favorite beer in a new light.

“I think Dragon’s Milk speaks for itself. It’s a strong beer that our customers love on its own,” said Petersen. “The Dragon’s Milk Reserve program gives us the platform to build on that strong base and create a variety of exciting new flavor experiences.”

“The Reserve series allows our brewers to express their creativity,” said New Holland Brewing President Brett VanderKamp. “We continue to be amazed at the ways Dragon’s Milk can play with different flavors.”

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — Fermenta: Michigan Women’s Craft Collective, is co-hosting a spirits event at New Holland Brewing‘s The Knickerbocker Sunday, April 22 from 2-4pm.

For this “Shaking & Sipping” hands-on event, attendees will learn how to properly taste gin, rum, and bourbon while also making historically significant cocktails with each base spirit.

The event is open to the public, welcoming both Fermenta members and non-members to participate and partake. Ticket price includes samples of each liquor, three cocktails attendees will prepare and a light snack.

Prices are $25 for non-members and $20 for members.

With each event Fermenta hosts, the non-profit raises money towards their scholarship fund to further women’s education in the craft beverage industry. This allows members to apply for and attend workshops, classes, and seminars around the state.

Holland, Michigan-based craft brewery and distiller, New Holland Brewing, announces the release of their 20th Anniversary Ale, a beer specifically brewed to commemorate their 20th year in the brewing industry. This beer release is the culmination of their year-long celebration.

“For the past 20 years, New Holland has worked hard to create remarkable beers for our customers to enjoy,” says New Holland President and Founder, Brett VanderKamp. “Each brew is thoughtfully crafted, inspired by the stories around us, and this 20th Anniversary Ale is no exception.”

The 20th Anniversary Ale is a rum-barrel aged strong ale, and comes in at a whopping 20% ABV. Despite the high alcohol content, this brew is smooth and warming with notes of vanilla and the spice of rum.

“We aged this ale in rum barrels for almost a year, and the results are phenomenal. The rum character really shines though and complements the beer,” says Jason Salas, Brewery Production Manager.

This ale will be extremely limited in quantity, and available only at select retailers in Michigan, in wax-dipped 22oz bottles. The official release date is Black FridayNovember 24th. New Holland’s brewpub locations, Pub on 8th in Holland and The Knickerbocker in Grand Rapids, will be offering bottle sales as well as the only draft pours in the nation.

HOLLAND, MI  — New Holland Brewing announced today the appointment of Tom Stryker as Director of Brewery Operations/Beer Unit. With more than 400 employees and product sales in 38 states and four countries, New Holland’s leadership is expanding to grow expertise in the areas of sales leadership development, strategy and long-term planning. Stryker, 50, joined New Holland 10 months ago to help lead the company’s integration and implementation of new products.  He will now take a leadership position in brewery operations.

Stryker, a Hope College graduate, brings an extensive business integration background to New Holland. He is a former Vice President of Business Development for Blue Medora, a Michigan software firm.  Prior to Blue Medora, Tom provided strategic leadership on a consultative basis as a principal of the Stryker Group. He has also held leadership positions at Johnson Controls and Plascore.

“Investing in strategic planning and operational performance is key for our future,” said Brett VanderKamp, President of New Holland Brewing. “Tom will bring some depth in long-term thinking as we continue to add new products and markets.” VanderKamp is looking forward to this positive new addition to his team.  “Tom’s years of high-level strategic planning will also help provide direction for our brewery team as we continue to see significant growth,” said VanderKamp.

In 2015, New Holland’s production facility underwent substantial development including the tripling of their brewing capacity through additional indoor and outdoor fermentation, new keg line, expansion of the Dragon’s Milk cellar, additional refrigerated warehouse space, a new wash and column still, new shipping docks, and increased manpower, among other enhancements.  

Stryker will provide both day-to-day and long-term leadership to the brewery production team, while also working closely with internal and external sales teams. He will continue to report directly to VanderKamp, making for a smooth transition.

LANSING, Mich.—Seven members of the Michigan Brewers Guild brought home a total of nine medals at the Great American Beer Festival (GABF) Competition, in Denver, Colorado—the largest commercial beer competition in the world, presented by the Brewers Association.  Michigan-based Rockford Brewing Company was recognized as the “Small Brewpub and Small Brewpub Brewer of the Year”

In all, 293 medals were presented in 98 unique beer categories covering 161 different beer styles (including all subcategories). Winners were chosen out of 7,923 competition entries from 2,217 breweries in 50 states plus Washington, D.C. (a 15 percent and 24 percent increase respectively from the 7,301 entries and 1,783 breweries in 2016). The competition took place in six sessions over a period of three days and was judged by 276 beer experts from 13 countries, including the U.S.
