6.3% ABV, Draft
Appearance: Black with a small head.
Taste: Strong amounts of coffee. Otherwise some minor bittersweet chocolate and vanilla tones.
Mouthfeel: Strong bodied.
One of the newer breweries in West Michigan — Pike 51 in Hudsonville — puts together a strong lineup. My first brew I tried at its taproom was Sabotage, a milk stout full of coffee flavors. Using local coffee from Rowster’s in Grand Rapids, I was told that a pint of Sabotage contained the equivalent of a 12-ounce coffee. And you could certainly taste it. Flavorful but relatively easy to drink, Sabotage has to be one of my favorite coffee brews, and at 6.3% ABV, it won’t knock you on your head, either.
