Due to scheduling constraints, Founders Brewing Co. was unable to partake in brewing a special batch of the Beer City Pale Ale recipe. But that didn’t stop them from partaking in celebrating Grand Rapids’ title of BeerCity USA — the brewery renamed its regular Pale Ale to be Beer City Pale Ale. This is a simple pale ale — with subtle flavors — though it’s a great representation of the style. With wheat overtaking much of the taste, there’s a pleasant bitter hop at the end. Hints of malts and citrus round out this beer that represents the City of Grand Rapids quite well.
