Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo take 1-2 spot in BeerCity USA poll
For the second straight year, Grand Rapids has been named BeerCity USA.
With an overwhelming 27,000 votes for the West Michigan city, Grand Rapids added nearly 10,000 votes on top of last year’s total of 17,849 votes which was tied with Asheville, NC.
50,000 votes were cast for 23 qualifying cities across the country.
Second place Kalamazoo earned 11,150 votes for its first year in the poll. Asheville was third with 10,075, and Ann Arbor fourth with 847.
Area breweries have already announced several promotions for retaining this year’s crown. B.O.B.’s Brewery is offering $1.50 drafts today, while BarFly Ventures is offering $1.50 Michigan drafts at HopCat, Grand Rapids Brewing Company and Stella’s Lounge.
