“We’re really working hard to make the festival authentic,” said Sam Porter, owner at Porterhouse Productions, the organizer of the Traverse City Winter Microbrew & Music Festival.
“It’s a huge event,” he said.
The Winter Microbrew & Music Festival will take place Feb. 9 in downtown Traverse City. Next week’s festival will mark the eighth beer festival for Porterhouse Productions, and the fourth winter festival.
The festival will feature over 75 musicians, over 45 breweries and over 200 craft brews.
“It’s a big cheers to Michigan and Traverse City,” Porter said, describing the winter aspect of the festival as being “more rooted in Michigan culture.”
In addition to the craft brews and musical acts, home brewing will play a large part in the festival, including a home brew contest. Food vendors were also asked to pair foods with their favorite beers of their choice.
One-hundred percent of alcohol sales during the festival will go to support Bay Area Recycling for Charities, a local non-profit organization.
In addition to the festival, Traverse City Craft Brew Week kicks off Feb. 2 with a Craft Brew Crawl.
“The whole week is beer week. We have over 25 venues and restaurants participating,” Porter said. “We’re doing craft beer takeovers city-wide. No macros.
“It’s a craft beer lover’s paradise in Northern Michigan.”
