8.2% ABV, Bottle

Appearance: Black with a medium tan head.
Aroma: A bit hoppy and tart, with a hint of chocolate.
Taste: A little bitter, but some roasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate flavors. Pretty earthy.
Mouthfeel: Medium to strong bodied; relatively drinkable.

I’m always somewhat worried to have a double hopped beer, but Saugatuck’s Double Black is a black ale with well-developed flavors and an easy bitterness. The brew is extraordinarily balanced, especially compared to what I expected, making it rather drinkable and enjoyable.
