DENVER — Three Michigan breweries took home medals at Saturday’s Great American Beer Festival award ceremony.
A silver medal was awarded to Redwood Brewing Co. for its Hazelnut Coffee Cream Stout in the Coffee Beer category. Bronze medals were taken home by Kuhnhenn Brewing Co. for its Kuhnhenn Braggot (Specialty Honey Beer category), and Bastone Brewery for its Udder Madness (Sweet Stout category).
A total of 254 medals were awarded on Saturday, covering 134 beer styles in 84 categories. Wyoming was the winningest state by number of entries, with 17.4 percent of the state’s 46 entries earning medals, with three of the six Brewery of the Year award-winning breweries were from the Mid-Atlantic region.
The ceremony capped off a week that included more than 2,700 beers served at the festival, bringing in 49,000 attendees from across the United States.
